Annual Drinking Water Report

As part of the project new 16 inch lines have been
constructed to "loop" the entire city. This will even pressures and in
combination with two new elevated storage tanks, provide more than 3 million
gallons of storage in the City system. The Wastewater Treatment Plant was completely renovated and expanded in 1991 with the ability to treat 40 million gallons of wastewater per day. That system operates at approximately 2.0 to 2.5 million gallons per day at this time. Our outstanding City staff is trained to the highest degree possible and our facilities are regularly used for tours and training by the State of Michigan because of our commitment to excellence.
We were named
the 1999 Water System Manager and Operator of the Year by the Michigan Rural
Water Association
Our rates continue to be among the lowest in Michigan with
$1.85 per thousand gallons charged for water and $2.85 for treatment of
wastewater. The City has excellent water quality with no chemicals added
with the exception of small amounts of chlorine and fluoride. The City's
water is considered hard but had no iron or other problems. Both plants
are on regular investment and maintenance schedules which are budgeted on five
year cycles to keep costs affordable and facilities in excellent condition. |
